WRPDD is involved in a number of Early Childhood programs. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) reimburses providers who operate child day care facilities in their homes, for providing nutritious snacks and meals to the children in their care. CACFP staff can also provide technical assistance to those considering child care as a career, and referrals to state licensing specialists. The CACFP program is the only WRPDD program which extends outside the White River District, operating in Lawrence, Randolph and Baxter counties as well as the 10 White River counties.
CHILDREN* of Northcentral Arkansas is a child care resource and referral agency operated by WRPDD. Parents who need help finding child care can access CHILDREN's multi-county database to find care specifically tailored for their needs. Information on available child care and new and existing providers is updated regularly. CHILDREN*, which is an acronym for Child Care Hub for Information, Learning, Development, Resource and Networking, also serves as a resource for both parents and child care providers. Technical assistance, training, reference materials, books, and teaching aids are available through workshops conducted throughout the year, and through the Northcentral Arkansas Child Care Resource Center, a lending library for those involved in child care. To find out more about CHILDREN* or submit a request for a child care referral, please see CHILDREN's web site at www.childrenofncar.org. WRPDD is an active participant in the local
